On Saturday 18th of September, in line with our ๐๐น๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ and on the occasion of the International Coastal Clean-up Day, our team organized a Beach Clean-up Event in collaboration with local NGOย Let’s Make Cyprus Green.
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ โ๐๐น๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บโ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ป ๐ฎ ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฎ๐ณ ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ด๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ต ๐๐ฒ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ธ๐ด! The collected waste was separated into recyclable and not recyclable materials and was disposed of accordingly.
The most common form of litter found were cigarette butts.
Did you know that most cigarette filters are made out of a plastic like material called cellulose acetate? The fibers in cigarette filters behave just like plastics in our oceans, the UV rays from the sun may break the fibers down into smaller pieces, but they never disappear.
